It’s been slightly over a month since I sowed my first seeds indoors and slightly less than a month since my lettuce, beets, and onions were either sown or transplanted directly into the ground, and I have to say that for a first-time gardener I’m amazed nearly every day by something green. Somehow I’ve managed to make it to 31 without ever having been taught or shown anything relating to gardening. Like many children I spent a lot of time with my mother when I was a young child, and ever
It’s been a strange few weeks that led up to my definitive decision to try out for the All Stars this morning. I destroyed the inside of my right foot by trying to break in my new skates, my grandmother died, and the day of my grandmother’s funeral I still didn’t know if I’d be able to skate in that night’s bout – I had made attendance (barely), but my foot was still open and raw and in pain. I didn’t have much hope that I’d be able to skate that night, which was yet another blow

In our tin can practice space, that's pretty disruptive. And my puffer only helped so much. It was annoying ... On the positive side, I'm skating much better. My time off made me really hungry, and when my lungs weren't aching I gave my all. My cross-overs are getting much better. It's frustrating, because cross-overs are a really essential
The Minnesota RollerGirls recruit their newest members in the heat of June ... As summer's heat passes, these recruits get drafted and begin working with the four teams ... but in years past that left months before a new player would be seen at the Roy ... Last year, we began running league mixers to show off the rookies and get everyone back in front of the Roy crowd from the very first bout ... As an opener to each All-Star bout this year, we're starting up the mixers again ... This month: a
All of us has quirky little things about us that are part of who we are. For the most part, they are pretty harmless and aren’t such a big deal. However, I believe some of us have some bad habits that may actually run potential partners away. How honest are we about them, though? ... I’m quick to say that I love me and if another person can’t recognize all my wonderful goodness (flaws and all) then forget about them! Every now and then, though I have had to stop and think to myself. Is
